GRIPS Education: the Training and Education Version of RECOM-GRIPS
The education version of RECOM-GRIPS brings a high level of practical relevance to everyday teaching and learning right from the start of training, e.g., by providing support for necessary everyday nursing tasks. Just like the full version of the nursing and treatment documentation for hospitals, for example, the education version also relies on the central element ENP (European Nursing care Pathways) as the nursing terminology and classification. With ENP, users can map the entire nursing process. After selecting nursing diagnoses with characteristics, etiologies and resources, the next steps are the agreement of outcomes and the selection of adequate nursing interventions.
The systematic development concept of ENP follows the principle of evidence-based nursing and not only incorporates the latest international nursing expertise, but also conveys this knowledge into nursing practice and training.
This idea is implemented in the software through a variety of factors, such as explanatory texts on technical terms and intervention concepts. In addition, instructions for performing nursing interventions can be actively displayed in the system. All ENP practice guidelines include a bibliography listing the publications used for their development and revision.
In addition to ENP, GRIPS Education also includes the standardized IDEA (Interdisciplinary Data-based Electronic Assessment) medical history for collecting structured medical history information, including references to possible ENP nursing diagnoses/suggestions for possible ENP nursing diagnoses. Gathering detailed information is the first important step in establishing a constructive relationship with the care receiver and determining the nursing care they need. With IDEA, GRIPS Education provides over 1,000 individual topics to describe patient and resident conditions for learning and practice purposes.
